Job Title: Garden Centre Associate
Job Type: Full-time, seasonal
Reports to: Garden Centre Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greeting customers and providing knowledgeable advice on products based on your assessment of their needs.
- Operating cash register machine to process sale transactions.
- Scheduling order and delivery for custom orders, such as floral or table arrangements and transferring corporate orders to management.
- Caring for plants by watering, deadheading, fertilizing, and transplanting, as required.
- Maintaining a clean and organized customer experience in and outside the Garden Centre by organizing the display of merchandise, creating an attractive visual presentation for products, and ensuring products are properly labelled.
- Working with your colleagues to ensure you are kept up to date on all promotions and sales and be aware of the latest trends in the horticulture industry.
- Performing other tasks as requested by the Garden Centre Manager on duty.
- Horticultural knowledge (understanding of plant varieties/species, insect control, etc.) and/or nursery experience considered a significant asset.
- Ability to operate nursery machinery such as tractors, forklifts, loaders and/or other specialized horticultural equipment is a bonus, but not required.
- Customer service experience is also considered a significant asset.
- Strong work ethic with ability to work well independently and with others.
- Having a valid driver’s license is also considered a significant asset.
